Comments

Dorothy Florence Profit (nee Hansen). After a remarkable life, Dorothy Profit, passed away on December 10, 2011 at Morris House in Yorkton, SK. She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughters Brenda (Robert), Joy (Josef), and son Kris (Sherry); grandchildren Tricia (Dan), Heather (Clint), Graham, Brett, Lauren (Dan and Lily) and three great-grandchildren, Reese, Wyn, and Ty. Also left to mourn are her sister Emma and sisters-in-law Margaret, Hazel, and Ruth as well as her special nieces and nephews and many friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husbands Kenneth Profit and Byron Benjamin. Dorothy was born on June 14, 1926 and enjoyed her childhood growing up in Theodore. She later took her training and worked as a registered nurse in Yorkton where she met and married her husband, Ken. They resided in Yorkton until 1957 when they relocated to Winnipeg. The family enjoyed many summers at cottages on the Brokenhead River and Long Lake. During this time she continued her nursing career and became Nursing Administrator at Tache Hospital. After the family was grown, they retired in Theodore where she served several terms as mayor.  After Ken’s passing in 1988 she continued to enjoy gardening and golfing and became an active member of the Theodore Seniors. In 1993 she married Byron Benjamin. Together they enjoyed many winters in Yuma, Arizona golfing and dancing. Byron passed away in 2007. Dorothy’s family and wide circle of friends will always remember how she enjoyed life and was always willing to help others. She will be deeply missed by many. We would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Morris House for their kind care while she was there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Theodore United Church or a charity of one’s choice. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Dorothy’s life will take place at Theodore United Church on June 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM.
