Light in the midst of dark

As I’ve written in earlier articles, we’ve all experienced or perhaps, are still experiencing, very dark days. They’re no fun. Last week, however, readers of my writing but especially God Himself, recognized our collective need of light.

As I’ve written in earlier articles, we’ve all experienced or perhaps, are still experiencing, very dark days.

They’re no fun.

Last week, however, readers of my writing but especially God Himself, recognized our collective need of light. How grateful I have been to catch such glimpses of life-and sanity-saving sunshine.

First of all, there’s a glimmer of hope coming from our health officials; as vaccinations are now being administered, there’s a sense of some “light at the end of the tunnel.” Snags or otherwise, at least the procurement and procedures are underway.

Then, here in B.C., we’ve received notice that effective immediately we can gather outdoor with friends or family within our bubble. Of course, precautions such as masks and social distancing are still required and, I suspect, they will be for months yet to come, but we can gather outside. Can’t wait to host some family for an afternoon tea or evening meal out on our deck. Viewing the ocean will be even more beautiful!

On a personal note, it’s you, my readers, who have buoyed my spirits to new heights this week. A number of emails even a handwritten card from a friend and reader who resides in Hawaii, thanked me for my weekly articles and noted how they’d been encouraged by reading them. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Jesus reminds us that He is the Light of the world. (John 8:12) but the amazing thing, at least to me, is that when we make Him Lord of our lives, we automatically become part of that light. We can’t earn that, but we are responsible to let His Light shine through lives lived in obedience to Him.

“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8)
