No scars to your beautiful

Japan, a broken vessel is repaired with gold, the flaw only adding to its beauty and becoming part of its history. And I am ready to concoct a theory that when we break and are restored, we become stronger and more beautiful.

Japan, a broken vessel is repaired with gold, the flaw only adding to its beauty and becoming part of its history. And I am ready to concoct a theory that when we break and are restored, we become stronger and more beautiful. That is true in the eyes of God.

“All you are left with during a crisis is your conduct during it,” said John Cochran, famous for his defence of O.J Simpson and, earlier, Michael Jackson.

A battle-scarred but victorious soul is a beauty to behold. And we do get more beautiful as we get older. I’m reminded of the little girl who was ashamed of her freckles and trying to cover them. Her Grandmother said, “I like freckles. Is there anything more beautiful in the world than freckles?”

The little girl thought for a moment and then replied, “Yes, Granny. Wrinkles.”

“Beauty is not about what others think but what you think. It is about knowing and accepting who you are and being comfortable in your own skin.” Dr. Bill Webster

Alessia Cara sings “No scars to your beautiful” which talks about the world’s concept of beauty. Maybe the world needs to “change its heart” and recognize true beauty.

“No scars to your beautiful” says, “We’re stars and we’re beautiful”. We have a light shining within that we can share with others:

There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark

You should know you're beautiful just the way you are

And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart

No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful.

If our brokenness is mended with the gold of God’s forgiveness then we are truly beautiful. Our scars are gone. We have these consoling passages from scripture telling us there are no scars to our beautiful  when we are redeemed:

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

Psalm 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”

If I can paraphrase the lyrics written by Alessia Caracciolo, Andrew Wansel, Coleridge Tillman and Warren Felder:

But there's a hope that's waiting for us in the dark.

We should know we're beautiful just the way we are.

And we don't have to change a thing; the world could change its heart.

No scars to our beautiful; we're stars and we're beautiful.
