The Town of Creighton and Northern Village of Denare Beach have shut down several local facilities in response to COVID-19.

Both communities announced closures online March 17. Within Creighton, the Town Office and Creighton Recreation Office will be closed to the public until further notice, along with the Creighton Sportex.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your cooperation and support through this time," reads a statement from the Town of Creighton.

"We encourage everyone to practice the safety measures and guidelines by public health agencies to keep all our residents healthy. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 updates and respond accordingly."

An upcoming event at the Creighton Community Centre, "Come and Celebrate A Day of Learning and Networking for Women", has also been postponed.

Denare Beach's Village Office has been shut down as of March 17, as well as the Denareplex, weight room and youth drop-in. Village administration had previously told locals to avoid entering the office unless there was "an urgent need".

"We apologize but need to ensure our community remains safe and well," said a statement released by the Northern Village of Denare Beach.

The Creighton Connection passenger transport service and all Creighton water, sewer and volunteer firefighting services will continue as normal.

Any more questions can be referred to local adminstration, either the Creighton Town Office at (306) 688-8253 or the Denare Beach Village Office at (306) 362-2054.
