Carlyle Town Council met on Wednesday, May 30 at the Carlyle Civic Centre. Council's next regularly-scheduled meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 20 at 7 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
New Councillor
Carlyle Town Council welcomed their newest member - Councillor Kelly Lutz - to his first meeting. Lutz was elected to council following a May 23 byelection.
Public Works
Town of Carlyle Public Works Superintendent Todd Thompson reported that work was underway throughout the community on necessary spring maintenance projects. Progress will depend on weather conditions.
Dump Day
This year's free Dump Day was a success, with 62 households taking advantage of free refuse drop-off at the town dump. Council is considering making this an annual event, tentatively scheduled for the Saturday after the May long weekend.
Fire
As Council's representative on the Fire Board, Councillor Darcy Moore gave a report regarding May's fire and firefighting activity in the area. Moore commended volunteer firefighters in this part of the province, adding: “If you see a firefighter, thank them for all of their hard work, especially during the month of May.”
Thanks to Public Works
The Carlyle & District Lions Club wrote Council, commending Public Works employees. The letter read, in part: “We would like to extend a huge thanks to Todd (Thompson) and the Town of Carlyle for turning the water on at Lions Park and for getting some of the water lines thawed for us.”
