Alida weekly news – a hearty welcome back

There’s been a switch-a-roo at the Alida Post Office once again. We now have to say good-bye to Jackie Henderson who was been our new and faithful postmistress for the last couple of months in 2020 while Linda Akins was on sick leave.

There’s been a switch-a-roo at the Alida Post Office once again. We now have to say good-bye to Jackie Henderson who was been our new and faithful postmistress for the last couple of months in 2020 while Linda Akins was on sick leave.

Sorry to see you leave Jackie, you did an awesome job while here and we’ll miss your cheerful greetings. Now we welcome Linda back with open arms – great to have you back and see your smiling face back behind the counter and receive your cheerful greetings. See you around and do take care.

Birthday greetings for this coming week are extended to Owen Boettcher on Jan. 23; and Shelly Cowan, Shelley Boutin and Albert Boutin – Jan. 27. Happy birthday to you all and may you have many more to come.

Just a reminder – I hope that you have placed your pizza order with the Alida Rec. Board, who has decided to make and sell homemade pizzas (pepperoni, ham/pineapple, cheese or loaded) as a fundraiser. Deadline for placing your order was Jan.16, and the pickup/delivery date is Jan. 23. Enjoy your pizzas.

Hubby and his sister Joyce George of Redvers also received word that their cousin’s wife Marie Hannesson of Winnipeg had passed away Jan. 15 at the age of 97 years. Condolences are extended to all family members.

I swear this column gets shorter and shorter each week. This COVID pandemic has surely got us shut down, not much happening in and around our area.

Please remember folks to keep me posted whenever you have news – simply contact me anytime, either call me at 306-443-2496, text at 306-485-8561 or e-mail g.cowan@sasktel.net on the happenings that are going on in and around Alida as well as within your own family circle.

I will see that your news gets into a paper. I do appreciate all your input as it does help keep this column interesting.

Until next time, keep smiling, think positive, drive safely, take care and wear your mask.
