Members of Carlyle Town Council gathered for their monthly meeting on Sept. 16.

Council members brought forward the utility service charge bylaw. There won’t be an increase in 2021.

Also, the two per cent penalty on utility accounts over 30 days due has been waived until Dec. 31.

The location of a spray park for the community was discussed. The options for a location are still being considered.

A speed radar sign has been set up in the community to deter speeding within the town limits. It is being monitored and is moved bi-weekly to different streets. Council noted that speeding has become an issue within the community.

The provincial government announced earlier this month that it was providing an additional $70 million to municipalities. Carlyle was allocated $89,958.  The town office has yet to be notified what the rollout with this money consists of, but the press release stated this was part of the federal government’s Safe Restart Canada Plan, and it will support efforts to protect health and safety, prepare for potential future waves of COVID-19, and facilitate the safe re-opening of economies.
