A wildland fire outside of Lampman last week required the attention of members of the Lampman, Stoughton and Estevan fire departments.

The departments were called to the field fire on Oct. 5. Four farms were threatened due to the blaze.

Due to the scale of the fire and high-wind conditions, a mutual aid call was issued by the Lampman department. Local farmers also stepped forward to help to put fireguards in.

The fire consumed approximately 620 acres of land. Fortunately, firefighters saved all houses, although a garage was lost. No vehicles were in the garage.

The wind speeds caused the flames to spread quickly, but crews were able to contain the flames and get them under control.

Firefighters spent several hours at the scene
