A fire totally engulfed the Western Star Inn & Suites in Redvers in the early morning hours Monday.
Redvers Fire Chief Brad Hutton says they were dispatched at 2:12 a.m. Upon arrival about one-third of the roof and the top floor of the two-storey building were on fire.
The Inn, which was built in 2011 and boasts 65 rooms, had been closed down some time last fall due to COVID-19.
“Two engines and a tanker and 16 firefighters were sent to tackle the blaze,” explains Hutton and adds “our best efforts were put forward to save it.”
Unfortunately it was a total loss. Cause of the fire is unknown.
