Municipal, educational mill rates to remain the same

            Carlyle Town Council held their regularly-scheduled meeting Wednesday, May 2 at the Carlyle Civic Centre. Council's next meeting will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 16 at the Civic Centre.

            Mill rates

            The municipal and educational mill rates will remain the same, with a  municipal rate of 7.8 mills.

            Main Street crosswalk

            A crosswalk on Main Street between RBC and The Observer building was approved by council. A push-button, solar-powered sign and device has been ordered.

            2018 Budget

            Council has completed and approved the Town of Carlyle's 2018 budget.

            Public Works

            In addition to the coming crosswalk on Carlyle's Main Street, Public Works Superintendent Todd Thompson informed council that the town's lagoon aeration system is completed after a year's work.

            The purchases of two new mowers (as approved in the 2018 budget) have been purchased from E.B. Bourassa & Sons in Carlyle.

             Year-end reports

            Council received a year-end report from Carlyle's Rusty Relics Museum, as well as the minutes from the Carlyle Public Library's annual general meeting.
