The Ramada hotel in Carlyle reopened to guests on Sept. 1 after being closed by owner Eric Park on Mar. 27 when the COVID-19 pandemic arrived.

Park preferred to throw caution to the wind and shut the door because of his concern for the health of his guests and his employees.

Park decided to reopen the hotel after seeing that there were few cases of COVID-19 in the southeast part of Saskatchewan. He was able to have an informed look to see how the virus would play out and now feels that the guidelines put forward by the Saskatchewan Health Authority and measures he has taken himself will provide a safe environment for his customers and his workers.

The hotel has 60 rooms and was first opened by Park in 2012. It is one of only two hotels in Carlyle serving the town after the Skyline closed its doors in 2018.

Park has a strong customer base, and many regular patrons have been using the hotel already since the reopening. He feels that business will improve in the coming weeks as people become aware the hotel is back open.

Park is very appreciative of the diligent job his staff is doing in seeing everything runs well now the hotel is open again and he is very happy of the availability of good quality workers from the area the hotel serves. Park also references the industries in the Carlyle area as having a strong bearing on the hotel’s success as well, and enjoys providing the jobs and accommodations to service the surrounding area.

Ramada is an international hotel franchise that is presently operated under the Wyndham Hotel Group.

Park’s Carlyle location was ranked number one in customer appreciation for all locations in North America for the fourth quarter of 2019.
