The Carlyle RCMP detachment responded to several calls of service from Thursday, August 9 to the morning of Thursday, August 16.
Allegations of Assault
Policemembers spent innumerable hours on two separate days dealing with a family dispute. First it was over whether the peas were ready to be harvested, and then a combination of events resulted in police being called again to the farm. The issue was now who was going to get to drive the combine and remove the crop of pea’s which everyone had agreed to did need to be harvested.
“All we ask is Pea’s try and get along with each other. Sorry we mean “Please,” said Simmons.
Breech of Release Conditions
A spousal call resulted in both individuals being arrested and release on conditions of no contact. “If you can’t get along we will put you in conditions to stay away from each other,” said Simmons.
Another individual in Redvers was in breach of release conditions and is still in custody.
Assault with Weapon
An adult male got upset with his father and will be facing charges of Mischief, Assault, and Assault with a weapon and also Breach of Release conditions.
Mischief
We assisted conservation with a loud party and they later assisted us in locating a possible impaired driver. “Just someone having a bad day backing up his trailer…it happens,” said Simmons.
. Missing Persons
We are still looking for Ruby Barnes, we have followed up further tips, and continue making patrols and liaising with the family.
Child Custody
One case of child custody was assisted.
Driving Without Due Care
One individual was given a warning for driving without due care and attention while another was charged….he, the latter, ended up crossing over into on-coming traffic and the police member could not ignore it being they were traveling into the oncoming lane.
Theft/Fraud
A woman picked up the wrong bike that was shipped to the post office. Then went back to get the correct bike, she then returned the wrong bike back to Wal-Mart for a refund. Still under investigation.
Trafficking Illegal Substance
A person from Manor was charged with multiple charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Another suspect in was selling a vaporizing product, CBD oil, which police are not sure is legal, still under investigation.
Mental Health
. Two calls were responded to about mental health. “If you have any concerns about mental health, don’t hesitate to contact police for advice or help,” said Simmons.
Mischief
The police were called about lanterns being launched in the area, “I know what they are and they are pretty, but you have to remember it’s dry out there,” said Simmons. No one was charged.
Traffic Offenses
There were five collisions, 2 insurance fines, 5 intersection fines, and 4 no seat belt fines.
Erratic driving
Police responded to a call about an erratic semi truck driver.
Sexual Assault
Police responded to a call but the person decided not to press charges.
Intoxicated in Public
One man was charged with resisting arrest, uttering threats x 3, and intoxication in public after refusing to cooperate with police by giving his name.
