NelsonGarfieldThompsonDunnpassedatCarlyleonSeptember22,2016attheageof97. Nelsis survivedbyhischildren,Larry(Donna),Bev(Debra),Rilla,Wayne(Laura),Brian{Cheryl). Grandchildren;Kirk(Nathalie),Blake,Renae{Kelly),Perry{Carole-Lyne),Shawn,Clint,Joshand Danielleand11greatgrandchildren.
Nelswaspredeceasedby Florence,hislovingwifeof60yearsin2008andhissonRossin1968. Hewasthelastsurvivingmemberofhisfamily,havinglosthisBrotherGordonDunn,andSisters EvelynCalcutt,MargeHawesandEdna Calcuttinpreviousyears.
Nelsservedhiscountry asa WorldWar2 Veteranandwasoverseasforfiveyearsseeingaction inHolland,FranceandGermany. Duringthistimehedrovetruck toprovidesuppliestothe frontline.Uponcominghomehesettledintotruckingandraisinghisfamily withhiswife Florence. TheFamilybusiness,DunnTransport,broughthimfrom Wolseley toCarlylein1954 andovertheyearshebecameveryinvolvedinallaspectsofthecommunity. Nelsservedon TownCouncilfor20yearsandformanyyearswasactivelyinvolvedwiththeUnited Church, Legion,MemorialHall,HousingAuthority,RinkboardsandBuildingcommittees.Nelswasvery proud tohavethefamilybusinessflourishandcontinuetoberunbyhissonsandgrandsons.
Nelsgavewithhandand hearttofamily,church,andcommunity.Hewaswellrespectedand loved.
AcelebrationofNelslifewasheldonOctober15,2016attheCarlyleUnitedChurchwithRev. SungShimofficiating.ASpecialthank-youtotheMooseMountainLodgeforthecarethey providedtoNelsduringhistimethere.
