On July 27, the residence belonging to Justin and Kara McNish was moved off of their town lot and relocated to their acreage west of Alida. Good luck folks on your new location and hopefully you enjoy country living. Glad that you are still in our area and that we’ll still be seeing you around and about.

Visiting with Faye Walker during the long weekend and for a few extra days at her cabin at Kenosee Lake were her family – daughter Deidra, Jeff Nickel and granddaughters Olivia, Abby, Claire and Piper (all from Saskatoon).

Congratulations to Justin and Kara McNish on the safe arrival of their son Liam Russell on July 28. Proud first-time grandparents are Tim and Trudy Boettcher and great grandparents are Jim and Mary Boettcher and Beatrice Annetts. Congratulations to you all.

Gail McLachlin had her granddaughter Thia McKenna of Calgary holidaying a few days last week. While here she really enjoyed the swimming pool. On June 9 they travelled to Cabri where they visited with Gail’s parents Ken and June McLachlin and met up with Thia’s mother Grace.

Spending the past week at the farm and at the dam with her grandparents Prudent and Joey Mailhiot was Tatym Mailhiot from Medicine Hat, Alta. Also spending holiday time with the Mailhiots at their camper were Joey’s sister Lois Stokke, Ken Mair from Kronau and their granddaughter Katelyn (from Regina).

I received a text message inquiring about Alida Bingo (which was held every Monday night). I decided that I had best check with the Alida Bingo committee to see if they had made any future decisions concerning bingo. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic bingo had been cancelled and will not be held at the Alida Hall for the time being. Bingo may start up again later this fall – so please keep watch for future updates.

Noticed a few combines in the area that were operated in the field this past week, do believe the farmers were combining peas. The harvest season is now upon us, so please be careful out there in the field running those big machines and hauling the grain.

Please folks keep me posted whenever you have news – simply contact me anytime on the happenings that are going on in and around Alida as well as within your family circle, either call me at 306-443-2496 or text at 306-485-8561, or e-mail g.cowan@sasktel.net. I will see that your news gets into a paper. I do appreciate all your input as it does help keep this column interesting.

Until next time, keep smiling, think positive, drive safely and take care.
