Maryfield Sunrise Villa news

Fred and Mariann Krukoff celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past week. Very few of us reach that milestone. Their daughter Theresa was here from Edmonton, and Lydia lives here with their son living in Calgary.

Fred, 98, has harvested his garlic; and we had several meals of his beans while green. The second plot will find a home in our winter beans and stews.

Has your fridge died? Even after 20 years, the best fridges do. There are the little sit on the counter type in every room; no double installed as the first residents came to the villa. Too strong women with a luggage cart replaced it.

Charlotte Kovach brought a movie, Highway to Heaven, along with popcorn. Mary Thiessen and Margaret Penner led another joyful hymn sing in the courtyard. A car tour of harvest and crops is planned.

The visitor lists are: Teresa Krukoff and Ward, Lydia Frazer with Fred and Mariann; John Burke with Ralph; Celine Stolz our homecare nurse; Kevin and Cathy Husband with Irene; Dale Thiessen with Leora; Sharon Beutler with Joyce; Birnie with Betty; R. Swanton with Marie; Larry and Marion Husband with Irene; and Phil Mark with Janet.

My birthday mail included two copper hummingbird swings. They are hand-blown red glass bead, hung on a wrapped-in-copper frame, to hang near your feeder. We have seen only one adult hummer so far. I fear his family of last year was lost in an Arizona dust storm. He appears to have joined up with another family, and only checks us out occasionally. Thank you “My Resident Alien in America” daughter.
