This year, Wawota celebrated our 6th annual Sledge Hockey Tournament with approximately 75 players registering to play. It started out as a dream of mine to have my son be able to play hockey in his home town, with his family and friends after an car accident took the use of his legs. I never dreamed that it would become what it is today. At our tournament we promote acceptance and inclusion, and over the years have raised almost $40,000 which all gets donated back, with Wawota Community Forum and Stars Air Ambulance being our main ones. We have also donated to Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports in memory of Chris Pearson, the Clayton Gerein memorial fund, and the Regina Avengers Sledge Hockey team.
