The Grade 8/9 Junior Girls’ Volleyball Team played in their first tournament of the season last Saturday in Moosomin.  The girls played amazingly, winning every set and ultimately, the entire tournament.

Junior boys’ volleyball (grades 7 – 9) is underway at GFK. The junior boys’ team will be practising and playing games Tuesday and Thursday after schools until District playoffs on Nov. 8.

 

Fitness club is back at GFK for another year. Fitness club runs every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 7:45 – 8:30 and is open to all GFK students and staff, all fitness levels are welcome. Come out and get a workout in to start your day!

 

Remember, the School Community Council meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. If you want to know what is going on at the school or have questions, please plan to attend.  Your participation is necessary for our school success.

 

GFK is looking for basketball coaches. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Trent Johnson or Mr. Colin Wilson at the school (453-2500).

 

This week the Senior Cross Country Team athletes were awarded their District ribbons and medals. In the Senior Boys’ category, Tucker Sharp finished 3rd and Brayden Hill finished 10th. In the Midget Boys’ category, Jonah Dyck finished 1st and Nathan Simons finished 2nd. The junior competitors were awarded their ribbons and medals at their meet. In the Grade 8 Boys’ category, Mitch Himmelspach finished first and Creedence Desjarlais finished 5th. In the Grade 8 Girls’ category, Kerri Lachapelle finished 5th and Margaret Boyko finished 6th. Congratulations to all these athletes!

 

This fall G.F. Kells had 7 volleyball teams, junior and senior golf teams, and junior and senior cross country teams. Thank you to all of the fall sports coaches, staff and community. All your time and effort in school athletics is appreciated.

Practices run almost every Monday and Wednesday and tournaments are slotted in for Norquay, Stoughton, Estevan, Oxbow, Rocanville, Gravelbourg and Davidson. The completion of the season will be the SHSAA playoffs starting with Conferences in March and concluding with Hoopla on March 23rd and 24th!ts can contact the school for information about how to set up access.
