Game 2 - Playoffs

Tuesday, Feb. 11, the Cougars headed to Bienfait to redeem themselves.  The only way to describe this game is INTENSE! The Cougars really needed the win and were working hard to get it.

Landon stood on his head this game, making some huge saves and unfortunately for us, their goalie did as well.

The first ended with a score of  1-1. Both sides played hard and scoring for the Blue and White was Turgeon from McGonigal and Lequyer.

Both sides had lots of shots all game and the puck would’ve crossed every square inch of that ice.

In the second period, the Cougars dominated with 2 goals from McGonigal.  Johnstone and Struthers with 2, got the assists. It was a good and extremely nervous and of course, exciting feeling being up 3-1 heading into the third.

Bienfait got the bounces, scoring 3 goals.  It was a 4-3 game.  Thank the heavens for Rose’s goal with help from Johnstone, to tie it back-up, with just over a minute to spare.

End of regulation and it is 4-4.  The is always a super intense, nerve-wracking, time to pray to the hockey gods . . . who knows what the players are feeling, but this is definitely how the fans are feeling.

It was a 10-minute sudden death period and 4:55 into it, Bienfait sneaks one in and they take a 2-0 series lead.  One thing that we do know, is that our Cougars are resilient and will come back working super hard. They are never a team to doubt and count out.

We are looking forward to the game on Monday night at Carlyle Sports Arena at 8:00.  Thank you to all of the Cougar fans that always show up to the support the Cougars. Your support and respect for the game and all of the teams, is greatly appreciated.

         See you at the rink!

Note: At press time the Cougars made a comeback in the series, winning game 3 on Feb. 17 by a score of 5-2 and forcing a game four scheduled for Feb. 18 back in Bienfait.

Game four proved fatal for the Cougars, as the Coalers were victorious by a score of 5-4, ending the Cougars playoff run.

See you all back at the rink next season!
