The Cougars Novice 8 and Under Team played two league games this past weekend, winning both. The kids displayed great heart and awesome teamwork, with everyone contributing with hard work and excellent effort.
On Saturday, January 19th during Carlyle Minor Hockey Days, the 8 & Under Team faced the Arcola Combines. The game was a blowout, with Drayden Arndt, our Carlyle goalie doing his best impression of a brick wall! Our defense did a great job of crushing the Combines attempts, and the offense was unstoppable. With a final score of 21-2, almost all the Cougars scored a goal. Goal scorers included Colby Cuddington, Cadence Chapman, Kaysha Turner, Logan Romaniuk, Mitch Himmelspach, Cooper Humphries & Tyrell Dixon. Taryn Cappo, Carson Dangstorp, Darcie Rae, Cooper, Kaysha, Logan, Cadence and Colby also earned assists.
On Sunday, January 20th the Oxbow Huskies came to town. The Cougars had a slow start, down four goals early in the 1st period. However, they pulled together and came back to win the game 12-8. This was a very exciting game, so much fun to watch!
The Huskies are a fast team, but our players dug deep and put together some amazing plays. Cadence turned on the burners, beating the Huskies to the puck a couple of times to capitalize offensively. Colby, Cadence, Logan, Tyrell and Krimson Standingready scored goals, with Carson, Kaysha, Taryn, Logan, Colby and Cadence also earning assists.
Great job coaches and players, outstanding effort! This coming week finds the Novice team in Kipling on Friday, January 25th and Carievale on Jan. 27.
