From October 22 to 24 the Carlyle Sports Arena hosted a hockey instruction school for participating hockey players. The workouts were free for all minor hockey players.

The groups involved consisted of Initiation, Novice, Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget age groups. There were approximately 100 participants taking part in the three evenings of instruction. The workouts were one hour long, with the first one beginning at 5 p.m. The Initiation and Novice were facing off first. Next group to hit the ice were the Atoms and Peewees. Closing out the evening’s schedule were the Bantams and Midgets.

The Carlyle Cougars senior hockey team ran the workouts. The instructors put each group through various drills to help with conditioning and skating ability. All groups were looking ready for the upcoming season.

The arena was robust with activity, behind the scenes several volunteers were readying equipment and uniforms. The waiting room was also abuzz with fans checking out the next generation of hockey stars.

Hockey season is now upon us, with practice schedules and games beginning this week.

Skate hard and have a great season everyone.
