Mustangs wrestling round-up

The Mustangs Wrestling Club attended the Freshie to Bantam SAWA Provincials at Riffel Highschool in Regina on March 30. Eight wrestlers from grades 3-6 competed.

First time tournament competitor Brady Bates from Arcola,battled to a 4thplace.

Hunter Hamilton of Wawota and Kaleb Higgins of Carlyle, each placed 4th in tough weight classes, winning and losing some hard matches along the way. 

Rowan Murray from Wawota showed good technique and improvement, winning a bronze medal. Lennox McNaughton from Carlyle wrestled hard in his weight class and walked away with a bronze medal. Annie Parker from Carlyle fought through some adversity and showed heart, winning a bronze medal.  Hayden Miller from Carlyle displayed strong skills to win his silver medal.  Avery Barnett of Carlyle showed real grit and toughness, winning a silver medal.  She wrestled a close match to the most outstanding female wrestler (voted by coaches) from Saskatoon.

Coach Monte McNaughton is very proud of all of the members of his team of wrestlers and looks forward to seeing what they can achieve in the next season of wrestling.
